
Dr. Sharon Nachman is the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Disease at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital and Vice Dean for Research at the Renaissance School of Medicine. She also directs the Office of Clinical Trials and serves as Principal Investigator and Chair of the NIH-funded IMPAACT Network (www.impaactnetwork.org), where she has led maternal and child HIV and tuberculosis clinical trial initiatives for more than a decade. She has played leadership roles in over 25 clinical trials, including licensure studies for novel treatments in children and pregnant women that have changed the way infectious diseases are treated worldwide.
Dr. Nachman is a Fellow of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society and the Infectious Diseases Society of America, and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She serves as an editor for The Lancet Infectious Diseases, reviews for more than 15 leading journals, and has authored over 190 original manuscripts. She is also Principal Investigator of the Proactive NYS Network (www.proactivenys.org).
