The singular goal of the Office of Scientific Affairs (OSA) is to facilitate the biomedical research enterprise of Stony Brook Medicine. Working closely with the Office of the Vice President of Research, the OSA supports a vibrant base of scientists engaged in all aspects of biomedical discovery - basic, translational and clinical research, as well as biotechnology and drug development. At the foundation of these efforts is a strong research infrastructure populated with state-of-art core facilities dedicated to providing rapid turnaround, high-quality data and valid, reproducible results. In addition, the OSA offers expert assistance in identifying and developing intellectual property, navigating the complex regulatory/compliance issues integral to biomedical research, and concept-based experimental design. The OSA also targets emerging opportunities in extramural funding sources that support areas of research interest and expertise on campus.
