Instruments/Equipment
FEI BioTwinG2 Transmission Electron Microscope (Life Sciences Building 048)

It is a Tungsten emission, 120KV transmission electron microscope. Equipped with a side-mount AMT X60 CCD camera, FEI TEM provides wide viewing area and high apparent sensitivity. The system is optimized for imaging biological specimen and negative stained samples.
JEOL JEM 1400 Transmission Electron Microscope (AERTC building 113C)

The LaB6, 120KV Jeol JEM 1400 transmission electron microscope has resolution of 0.2nm/0.38nm(Lattice Image/Point Image). It can be operated at both room temperature and cryo mode. Equipped with bottom-mount Gatan Orius SC1000B CCD camera, Jeol TEM provides higher magnification factor and resolution, making it favorable for the material science applications. It is also equipped with STEM detector and Oxford X-MAX 80T detector for Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy analysis.
Zeiss Crossbeam 340 focused Ion Beam-Scanning Electron Microscope (AERTC building 113C)

FE-SEM features a GEMINI column with Schottky thermal field emission source, delivering high resolution imaging at low kv(1.9nm at 1kv, 1.0nm at 15kv). Acceleration Voltage range is from 0.02KV to 30KV. Imaging capabilities include InLens Duo or SE2 detector for secondary electron(SE) imaging and Backscattered Electron(BSE) Detector for compositional contrast. For advanced analytical applications, the system is equipped with Oxford EDS and EBSD for elemental analysis or for material and phase identification. The microscope can be operated at Variable Pressure mode with VPSE detector. The Dual column configuration includes a Capella Focused Ion Beam(FIB) column and a GIS system of platinum precursor, which can be used for nanoscale material processing and sample preparation. It is also equipped with Atlas 5, powerful integrated software for 3D imaging and nano-patterning process, and Leica Cryo system.
